Where is best to travel in April?

April is the ideal time to visit many of the world finest cities. The Cherry Blossom welcomes you to Toronto, Tokyo and the southern coast of the US whilst Tulips and celebrations are plentiful from Amsterdam to Thailand. Cuba is a gem to experience and April is the perfect time to visit this stunning experience.

Cuba, guaranteed sunshine, is a perfect option for an April getaway. April is the best months to go to Cuba weather-wise. It’s mainly dry, hot-but-not-too-hot (between 18ºC at night and 29ºC in the daytime) and days are long and sunny. Havana comes highly recommended but make time to visit the beaches for Caribbean white sands and turquoise seas, with a Latin beat.

As the southernmost of the Greek islands, Crete is also the hottest. April is a great time to go with temperatures rising amiably before summer’s sweltering peak. The further south you go, the more likely you’ll find the real Crete, unbothered by resorts. Spectacular mountain drives thread through lazy villages, where tavernas often produce their own meat, cheese and wine. For short haul sun Crete in April his hard to beat.

April is the perfect month to enjoy the brilliant blue skies as you cruise in the Mediterranean. The weather is warming up nicely, the sunny days start to outnumber the cold and cloudy ones. By April Cruise ships have just repositioned to Europe, so you can explore iconic ports such as Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Rome, and Venice without the crowds and heat of summertime.

April means mild weather, springtime flowers, and fewer crowds in Eastern Europe. A river cruise on the Danube takes you through the stunning valleys of Germany, Austria, Hungary and seven other countries all the way to the Black Sea. the Danube is the soul of Central Europe.

Ski & Adventure

While things are hotting up down at the coast, up in the mountains it's still ice-cool. Zermatt is one of the best ski resorts in April - it's high enough that there's still plenty of snow plus a snowmaking machine to top up the levels on the glacier. April is quieter and cheaper than in high season (as long as you avoid the Easter holidays). No queues for the ski lifts or at the bar; and the sun on the terraces is beautifully warm for long, al fresco lunches.

City Breaks

Amsterdam turns orange on April 27, when King’s Day brings local reveller to the city’s streets, parks, and boats bobbing about the canals for a good-time. April is also peak season for tulips, with large patchworks of vibrant flowers blooming in the city. A 30-minute drive to Keukenhof, one of the world’s largest flower gardens, is a spectacular not to be missed.

One of the USA’s friendliest cities, visit this southern belle’s cobbled streets and horse-drawn carriages. April is the perfect time to visit South Carolina, before steamy summer envelops the Deep South. Try jazz-club-hopping in the French Quarter, delight in fresh oysters on the seafront, and visit the colourful Georgians of Rainbow Row. Better still, April’s annual Festival of Houses and Gardens invites you inside some of the city’s most incredible antebellum homes.

Canada’s biggest city, Toronto is a bustling commercial and arts hub that still manages to be polite, tidy and clean! Towards the end of April, the city thaws and cherry blossoms burst with colour in High Park, it’s a photographer’s dream. Museums, shops and restaurants – Toronto is a pleasure to visit.

Cultural Experience

Coachella in California is the place to be seen in April with a line-up that is tough to beat. Case in point: rumour has it Kanye and Childish Gambino headline in 2019. Another reason to show up, of course, is tacking on a little trip to retro party playground Palm Springs. If you like your music festivals with clear skies and hippie vibes, head to Coachella in April.

Songkran festival in Thailand

Is perfect if you’re a lover of water fights and good old fashioned fun! This three day festival celebrates the Thai new year. Barrels of water line the streets and everyone is armed with water balloons and water guns to playfully attack with! Whether you’re a friend or stranger, there’s no escape from the water wars on the streets of Thailand!
